Paul Morris Wilbur

By | March 23, 2020

Paul Morris Wilbur, age 65, of Wellston, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 20, 2020, at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, Ohio.  He was born Jan. 29, 1955 in Oak Hill, Ohio to Guy Melvin Wilbur and Dorothy Joann Morris Wilbur.

Paul graduated from Wellston High School in 1973.  He was a former employee of Jackson Plastics Corporation, and then later retired from the Wellston City School system, where he served as a custodian for several years.  Paul was very musically talented with the guitar and harmonica.  He enjoyed playing in numerous bands over the years with his close friends, having started off his performance career as a member of the J.D. Hinton Band.

Paul cherished his family and always told everyone he loved them.  He was a devoted son, and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.  Paul also loved his ferrets, and treated them like family as well.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jane A. Arthur Wilbur; children, Brian Wilbur (Cindy) of Wellston, Jason Wilbur of Wellston, and Kelley Lockard (Matt) of Jackson; grandchildren, Brian, Abigail, Alex, Natalie, and Hunter; mother, Joann Wilbur of Wellston; brother, Dale Wilbur (Maria) of Tampa, Florida; niece, Crystal Wilbur of Tampa, Florida; along with several cousins and a host of friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Guy Wilbur; and several aunts and uncles, including special aunt and second mom, Lenora Perkins.

Calling hours will be Monday, March 23, 2020, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 7 p.m. with Pastor Susan Keeton officiating.

In keeping with Paul’s request, cremation will follow the service.  Due to the coronavirus and public health concerns, the Wilbur family wants to do their part in keeping everyone safe and understands if the public chooses not to attend the services.  A memorial gathering will be held in the summer to celebrate Paul’s life, with the date and time to be announced later.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
