Opal Irene (Carter) Miller

Opal Irene (Carter) Miller, age 80, of Oak Hill, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at her residence. She was born November 9, 1931 in Gallia County to the late George and Lexie (Yates) Carter.

She is survived by her husband, Leslie Miller; sons, Eddie “Butch” (Carol) Hughes, Roger (Vicki) Hughes; step-children, Robert “Freddy” (Sharon) Miller, Ralph Daniel (Marilyn) Miller, Verna Mae Roland, Diane (John) Selles, Judith (Elwin) Potter, and Rita (Tim) Silvey. Also surviving are four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Margaret Peg (Bob) Jones, Phyllis (Butch) Trotter, 16 step-grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-step- grandchildren. She was a loving person and a great cook as well as a member of the Oak Hill Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband William “Bill” Hughes, who passed away April 2, 1988 and brothers, Delbert, Leo and Edward Hughes.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday August 17, 2012 at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home (formerly Kuhner-Lewis) with Rev Tim Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in C.M. Cemetery.
