Norman “Tom” Eugene Gieke, age 81, of Jackson, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, October 18th, 2021. He was born April 24th, 1940, to the late Frank and Kathleen (Nance) Gieke.

Tom had his first date with Carol Fulk at the 1962 Jackson County Apple Festival. The two were married on December 1st, 1962, and together had two children, Lisa and Scott, and also raised their granddaughter, Andrea.

He was a hardworking, generous, loving and at times stubborn man. He wasn’t afraid to tell it like it was. When he was younger, he enjoyed drag racing, going to the races with friends and his granddaughter, Andrea. He also enjoyed working on cars, mowing the grass and watching westerns, true crimes and the races. Sitting on the porch visiting family and friends, listening to George Jones and talking on the phone with friends and family were also things he enjoyed.

Tom worked several jobs over his lifetime. He worked on Lang’s Farm in Wheelersburg, drove a coal truck and ran a dozer for Bellevue, did other dozer work, worked on cars in his garage and hauled gravel with his dump truck.

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Fulk) Gieke; his children: Lisa and Scott Gieke; granddaughter whom he raised, Andrea (Michael) Martin; granddaughter, Ashley McCoy; great-grandchildren: Michael, Nevaeh and Kendall; sister, Fern Eggers; good friends: Rick and Shirley Adkins; and several nieces and nephews.
