Nina R. Glass

Nina R. Glass, age 87, of Wellston, was called home to the Lord on Thursday, November 17, 2016, from the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. She was born January 26, 1929 in Glen Roy, Ohio to the late Rev. Edward Stevens and Lulabelle Gilliland Stevens.

Nina attended Berlin School and Wellston High School. She was a loving housewife who also formerly worked as a nurse’s aide at Jenkins Nursing Home. Nina, a 21-year breast cancer survivor, enjoyed traveling, writing to her pen pals and going to the Wellston Senior Citizens, where she had the honor of being a past Senior Citizens Queen. Nina also loved playing Bingo at Jenkins Care Community, where she most recently resided.

She is survived by her children, Doug Glass of Wellston and Darlene Butcher (Roger) of Wellston; grandchildren, Catherine Glass, Emily Newsom (Daniel), Chris Butcher (Tishena) and Brandi Banks (Kevin); great-grandchildren, Kyra Glass, Raleigh Newsom, Emilya Newsom and Declan Banks; brother, Robert Stevens (Ida) of Wellston; along with several nieces, nephews and many special friends whom she thought of as family.

Besides her family, Nina was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Glass in 1988; son, Dwaine Glass in 1968; sisters, Dora Ellen McWilliams and Esther Fohrenbach; special sisters-in-law, Helen Parks and Clara Israel; and her beloved companion, her cat, Molly.

“Nina will be greatly missed, but we know she is enjoying a wonderful reunion with her husband, son and parents at the great Heavenly feast.”

Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com
