Nick Hurst Prater, age 68, of Jackson, passed away suddenly on Jan. 6, 2021. He was born in Gallipolis, Ohio on Dec. 16, 1952 to the late Hurst and Lucille (Ramsey) Prater.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Crystal Kay (Hilt) Prater; a sister, Dorothy (Dot) Costilow of Sun Breeze, Florida; and also a brother, Chris Prater of Wellston, Ohio.
Additional surviving family members are: brother-in-law Larry Farrar and wife Suzanne of Sunbury, Ohio; brother-in-law William “Bill” Mercer and wife Sandra of Richmondale, Ohio; brother-in-law Randy Mercer and wife Tina of Columbus, Ohio; and sister-in-law Linda (Mercer) Richards and husband Sean of Jackson, Ohio. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Nickie will be remembered for his love of horses and the fact that he never met a stranger, just future friends.
