Nellie Louise Sexton

Nellie Louise Sexton, age 83, of Wellston, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Jan. 6, 2017 from the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born Nov. 4, 1933 in Carter County, Kentucky to the late Charlie Thomas and Julie Felty Thomas.

Nellie was a loving homemaker and faithful Christian lady. She was a member of the Community Chapel CCU (formerly Wellston #3) and she enjoyed working Word Find books.

She is survived by her daughters, Martha L. Helmick of Ray and Carolyn E. Vickers (Bob) of Wellston; grandchildren, Jimmy Sparks of Ray, Dona Clemons of Wellston and Dana Johnson (Coleman) of Ashland, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Jay Sparks, Megan Sparks, Ryan Clemons, Hunter Clemons, James Johnson and Madison Johnson; brothers, Billy Thomas of Florida, Raymond Thomas of Kentucky, George Thomas of Pennsylvania and Glen Thomas of Kentucky; sisters, Bessie Swint of Florida, Maxine Brown of Kentucky, Mary Arnett of Portsmouth, Elizabeth Hamilton of Portsmouth, Thelma Brown of Portsmouth and Sharlene Wessel of Portsmouth; along with two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. George Sexton in 1987; two brothers and two sisters. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Rev. Carmen Cline officiating.
