The angels came on Friday morning, December 24, 2021, to take Nancy Sue “Susie” Hougland, 84, home for Christmas. She was born in Wellston on October 18, 1937, to the late Floyd C. and Lucy Suthers Hougland. She was a former resident of North Ohio Avenue in Wellston and enjoyed her daily walks to all the downtown stores to visit with the clerks. Later in life, she was a longtime resident of the Davis Home in Oak Hill before moving to her current home, Jenkins Care Community, in Wellston. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wellston, which she loved, along with collecting angels and playing bingo.

She was the last of her family, having been preceded in death by infant siblings Floyd C. Hougland, Jr. and Betty Lou Hougland; along with her brother, Jerry M. Hougland; and her two sisters: Bonnie R. Hougland Cline and Winona J. Hougland Cook. She is survived by her six nieces: Amber Moore (Randall) of Oak Hill, Tina Mosbey of Thousand Oaks, California, Jeannie Pugh (Gerry) of Wellston, Jennifer Hayes (Monty) of Lancaster, Ohio, Jody Blaney of Akron, Ohio and Jerri Hinojosa (Virgil) of Austin, Texas; and several grand nieces and nephews and cousins.
