Michael Phillip Champion

Michael Phillip Champion, age 56, of Hamden, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014, at the VA Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born April 17, 1957 in Macon, Georgia, the son of the late Thomas Champion and Martha Jeanette Jones Champion. Mike was a former employee of General Mills and was a member of the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Susan R. Massie Champion; daughter, Scharlena Pace (Alex) of Wellston; step-son, Brent Harper of Milton, Vermont; step-daughter, Tonya Wilkes of McArthur; four grandchildren, Brittany Wilkes, Cayden Wilkes, James Harper and Jacob Harper; brothers, Dave Champion of Cartersville, Va. and Brian Champion of Hamden, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Saturday at 7 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Brumbaugh officiating and military honors by the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.
