Michael Lee Marks, Sr.

Michael Lee Marks, Sr., 66, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Holzer Hospice in Gallipolis from cancer. He was born July 27, 1945, in Gallia County, Ohio.

Mike graduated from Jackson High School in 1963 and Columbus Barber College. He was in the 3rd Infantry, 4th Battalion, 64th Armor as a tanker stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky and Germany. He worked at the D.T.& I. Carshops, was a policeman for the City of Jackson from 1970 to 1976 and a security guard at the Piketon Atomic Plant, retiring after 31 years.

He was the son of the late Otis Osborne Marks and Rosalyn Marks Nail and the grandson of the late Cliff and Elsa Callahan.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cherrylyn Brown Marks; son, Michael (Melinda) L. Marks, Jr.; daughter, Michele (Jeff) VanSickle; son, Anthony S. Marks; grandchildren, Abby VanSickle, Jacob VanSickle, Madelyn Marks and Xavier Marks; sister, Jean McMahen; brother, John Nail, Jr.; and uncle and aunt, Floyd and Joan Callahan.

Friends may call at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home Monday, May 14 from 6 to 8 p.m., where funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 15 at 11 a.m. with Diaconal Minister Janie Karl officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to: mayhewbrownfuneralhome.com.
