Melvin Willard Jenkins

Melvin Willard Jenkins, age 75, of Jackson, passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2019, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.  He was born Jan. 18, 1944 in Coalton, Ohio, son of the late Orvie Edsel and Ival Speakman Jenkins.

Melvin was a 1962 graduate of Coalton High School, and a veteran of the United States Army, who was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War era.  In years past, he worked as a supervisor in several different foundries.  Melvin enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets, as well as helping others work on lawn mowers or whatever else needed to be done.  He attended the Jackson First Church of the Nazarene. 

Melvin is survived by his wife, Cynthia J. Hale Jenkins; children, Secrena Erwin (Emil) of Indiana, Wendy Wallace of Indiana, and Donna Tingle (Barrie) of California; grandchildren, Tiara Jenkins, Cody Yeagley, Hunter Wallace, and Gia Forgione; brothers, Gilbert Jenkins (Sandra) of Ray, Mike Jenkins (Mary) of Crown City, and Roger Jenkins of Coalton; along with several nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Jan Jenkins; and his granddaughter, Sheyenne Jenkins. 

Calling hours will be Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Pastor Steve Queen officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
