Mary (Pierce) Bloss

Mary Frances (Pierce) Bloss, age 86, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in Bradenton, Florida where she had enjoyed spending the winter for the past several years. Born July 4, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Warren E. and Mary Eliza (Perkins) Pierce. She was preceded in death by beloved husband of 37 years, Charles W. Bloss in 1984 and three infant Prater grandsons.

Mary is survived by her three daughters, Patricia (Roy) Mullins of Circleville, Ohio, Kay Michael of Webster, New York, and Deborah (Jimmy) Prater of Jackson, Ohio. Also surviving are grandchildren, Chris (Jessica) Mullins and Joanna (J.D.) Pinkerton of Circleville, Ohio, Michelle (Steven) Lunn of Webster, New York, and Matthew (Jennilyn) Prater of Jackson, Ohio; and great-grandchildren, Colton and Grant Pinkerton, Sterlin and Allie Mullins, Alexis and Justin Lunn and Baylee Davis.

Other surviving relatives include her brother, Jacob Pierce of North Carolina and two sisters, Jane Fowler of Portsmouth, Ohio and Juanita Koch-Mackaluso of Michigan.

Mary graduated from Jackson High School in 1945. She enjoyed a successful career in women’s retail clothing, retiring from “The Fashion” of Jackson at the age of 77. She was a board member of the Jackson County American Cancer Society, an active member of the Jackson Lioness Club, and a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

One of her greatest passions was fundraising for the American Cancer Society Jackson County Relay for Life. Her team, named “Charlie’s Angels” in memory of her husband, raised thousands of dollars for cancer research through her endeavors.

But most importantly she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Friends may call the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio on Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 2 to 5 p.m. A service celebrating her life will be held Monday, March 17, 2014 at 10 a.m. with Pastor David Roach officiating.
