Mary Katherine Parker, age 54, of Wellston, passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. She was born September 30, 1962 in Oak Hill, Ohio to Robert Leslie Thompson and Caroline Genevieve Wilt Thompson.
Mary attended Jackson High School and was a former employee of General Mills until her health started to decline. She enjoyed horseback and trail riding, cooking, and rescuing animals. She was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 9092 Ladies Auxiliary in Wellston and a member of the American Legion Post 371 Ladies Auxiliary in Wellston.
Mary is survived by her mother, Caroline Thompson of Jackson; husband, Jack Parker; daughter, Genny Lynn Dale Dempsey of Steubenville; grandson, Nicholas Case; siblings, Tim Thompson of Wellston, Robbie Thompson of Lancaster, Marshall Thompson of Alabama, Roy Whaley of Jackson, Carolyn Whaley of Jackson and Joyce Walker of Columbus, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Thompson, and her son, Mark Dempsey, Jr.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. In keeping with Mary’s wishes, cremation will follow. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com
