Mark L. Bailey’s journey on earth began Jan. 29, 1967 in Portsmouth, Ohio, born to Kenneth and Donna (Wiley) Bailey. He met the love of his life, Maria Bailey in 1992 and they married in 1997. Their lives began in Jackson, Ohio. They have three sons, Carl (Brooke) Scherer of Columbus, Ohio, Billy (Jesse) Scherer of Jackson, Ohio and Shane Bailey of Jackson, Ohio.

In addition to his wife and sons, he is survived by his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Alexandra Logan, Aiden Scherer, Addison and Ava Scherer and Aubrielle Bailey. Three brothers survive, Kenny (Mary Ann) Bailey of Columbus, Ohio, Kevin (Tessie) Bailey of Columbus, Ohio and Craig (Julie) Bailey of Portsmouth, Ohio; five nephews, five nieces, eight great-nephews, three great-nieces, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Timothy Bailey and lifelong friend, Doug Charles.

Mark worked as a laborer for Local 87 in Portsmouth, Ohio for 15 years and prior to that he was employed by OSCO Industries in Jackson, Ohio for 13 years.

While he enjoyed music, singing, watching football, hunting and the beach, his true passion was his family. He was a devoted father and papaw. Most of all, Mark loved Jesus.

His journey began with our Lord and Savior unexpectedly on Dec. 15, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 at Elevate Ministries in Jackson with Pastor Russ Strange, Pastor Michael Jadrnicek and Pastor Mike Simpson officiating.
