By | June 15, 2016

Margie Leah Shepherd, age 83, of Jackson, Ohio, passed on to rest on Tuesday morning, June 14, 2016 at Adena Hospital in Chillicothe. She was born to the late James and Laura Browning of Jackson, Ohio on February 12, 1933.

Margie is survived by one daughter, Gloria Shepherd King; one son, David Curtis Shepherd; two grandchildren, Kelly and Carissa; five great-grandchildren; and one remaining Browning sister, Barbara Carpenter of Jackson, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 2004 by her former husband and father of her two children, Curtis Shepherd of Beaver, Ohio; and by her brothers: Bob Browning, Russell “Rut” Browning, Joe Browning, Dan Browning, Carl Browning; and her sisters: Gladys “Sis” Waugh, Byrda Timmons, Laura Strong, and Ruth Browning. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

Margie’s kind Christian and musical spirit had led her to make many friends at local churches where she often played and sang on Sunday evenings. She was often found with violin or guitar in-hand at local nursing facilities on Mondays where she played for the “older forgotten folks” (as she said). She came from a musically talented family and carried on that tradition through piano, organ, guitar, violin, mandolin, and her song-writing. She instilled that love and talent in her son David who continues on to play beautifully.
