Margie Jane “Granny” Whaley, age 90, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018. She was born May 28, 1927 in New Boston, Ohio to the late Elza and Lusity (Hayburn) Collins.
She is survived by daughter, Diana (Mike) Wildman of Jackson, Ohio whom she lived with until the time of her passing; daughter, Helen (Ken) Sherritt of Waverly, Ohio; daughter, Marty (George) Mercer of Wellston, Ohio; son, David (Carol) Whaley of McArthur, Ohio; son, Benjie Whaley; son, Lyman Whaley; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; a niece whom she raised, Kay Cantor; a nephew whom she raised, Howard (Linda) Whaley; sister, Margaret (Jerry) Shook; as well as several nieces, nephews and relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Homer “Buck” Whaley; son, Glen Whaley; daughter, Barbara Abbott; twin infant sons; grandson, Jimmy Whaley; sisters: Helen Hayes, Mary Fisher, and Beatrice McGhee; and brother, Louie Collins.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson with funeral services immediately following at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.lewisgillum.com
