Lynn Murray

Lynn Murray, age 72, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  She was born May 9, 1947 in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Daniel Hudson and Helen M. Johnson Hudson Myers. 

Lynn was a 1965 graduate of Wellston High School.  She retired from William and Mary Kiddie Academy in Wellston, where she took pride in taking care of “her kids” for 18 years.  Lynn was a funny and kind-hearted Christian woman who put God first in her life.  Those who knew her know that she always had a smile on her face and a warm hug for anyone who needed it.  Almost every morning, you could find Lynn enjoying time with her friends in the McDonald’s Breakfast Club.  She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Wellston, where over the years she took part in several church activities.  Lynn was a dedicated volunteer at Compel Ministries, where she helped others and spread the word of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  She was also a faithful volunteer at TLC Ministries.  In years past, Lynn always enjoyed participating in the Wellston Rotary Minstrel Shows. 

Lynn held her family very dear to her and is survived by the following: son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Robin Murray of Wellston; grandsons, Tyler Retterer-Swicki (Tim) of Akron and Derek Murray of Wellston; step-daughters, Renate Isaac (David) of Dundas and Nora Brooks (Kenny) of Zaleski; step-grandchildren, Andrea, Amanda, Charity, David and Andrew; siblings, Dan Hudson (Shirley) of Troy, Diane Bowling of Wellston, Jean Corvin (Rich) of Gallipolis, Bobby Myers of Wellston and Sylvia Swaney of Wellston; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. 

Besides her parents, Lynn was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 27 years, Jack Murray; and her step-father, Whitey Myers. 

Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Kelly officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
