Lila Joan (Wise) Rhodes

Lila Joan (Wise) Rhodes of Oak Hill, Ohio left this life to be forever with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 24, 2012. Lila was born on June 17, 1931 in Boyers, Pa. To Kenneth and Ruth (Crawford) Wise who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Patton and Kathryn Peoples.

On March 5, 1951, she was married in Hagerstown, Maryland to Grant Rhodes who survives. Lila stood by her husband’s side for 61 years as a faithful and loving wife.

Lila was the loving mother to Linda (Stephen) White of Springfield, Ohio, Daniel (Pam) Rhodes of Oak Hill, Ohio and Miriam (Jerry) Ireland of Jackson, Ohio all who survive.

In addition to her children she is survived by seven grandchildren, Joanna (Don) Bradley, Ruthie (Tracy) Williams, Jonathan, Derick and Tucker Rhodes and Brittany and David Ireland. She also leaves her legacy to five great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Caleb, Taylor, Alyssa and Matthew. Lila is survived by her twin sister, Lela (Robert) Shaner of Portersville, Pa., siblings, Barbara Sterner of Grove City, Pa and Kenneth Wise of Olean, N.Y. As well as a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Lila was a member of the Welcome Chapel Bible Methodist Church of Oak Hill where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She spent her life looking for opportunities to tell others about Jesus. She has an infectious smile that she never hesitated to share and enjoyed life to the fullest. To know her was to love her.

Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday October 27, at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Roy McCarty, Sr. and Rev Rick Christman officiating final resting place at the Horeb Cemetery in Oak Hill, Friends may call 3 to 8 p.m. Friday October 26, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to a memorial fund that has been set up at WesBanco, 201 South Front Street, Oak Hill, Ohio 45656.
