Lee (Hawk) DeLay

Lee (Hawk) DeLay, age 89, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019 at Holzer Assisted Living. She was born June 11, 1930 in Athens, Ohio to the late Reeder and Nelle (Cranmer) Hawk.

 Lee was a graduate of Jackson High School, Class of 1948. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, the Presbyterian Women’s Club, Jackson Women’s Garden Club, and a founding member of the Junior Women’s League of Jackson.

 She is survived by her daughters: Susan DeLay and Jan (Mike) DeLay Hoyt; grandchildren: Matt (Danielle) Hoyt, Josh (Maede) Hoyt, Adam (Laura) Hoyt, Dillon (Karisa) DeLay, Dexter (Morgan) DeLay, and Katie DeLay; eight great-grandchildren: Noah, Josie, Skyla, Zaiden, Airabella, Sophora, Zen, and Zoe; as well as several other loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. DeLay; son, David R. DeLay; brother, Alvin Hawk; and sister, Virgene (Hawk) Bice.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
