Larry J. Swift

Larry J. Swift, age 74, of Wellston, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013, at the Holzer Senior Care Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born May 6, 1938 in Athens, Ohio, the son of the late Dana Swift and Leah Nida Swift. Larry was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a former truck driver and he enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Bowling Swift; sons, Joe Swift (Peggy) of Gallipolis, Bruce Swift (Angie) of Middleport and Dana Swift (Jodi) of Gallipolis; daughter, Rhonda Swift of Gallipolis; step-son, Larry St. John of Tennessee; grandchildren, Robbie Swift of Gallipolis and Lori Swift of Youngstown; great-grandchildren, Megan Swift and Aiden Swift; brother, Robert Swift of Cutler, Ohio; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his step-son, Allen St. John and his brothers, Bill Swift and Ed “Lee” Swift.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Bruce Swift officiating.
