Larry Don Wallar

Larry Wallar, 70, of Wellston, passed from this life Monday, April 15, 2013. The son of Elbert and Mary Coon Wallar, he was born November 17, 1942, at Allensville. Larry was a graduate of Allensville High School and he served his country in the Army from 1960 to 1963. He labored as a boiler mechanic at Austin Powder and General Mills. Larry enjoyed attending the Calvary United Methodist Church in Jackson.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, the former Shirley Simmerman; his children, Robert (Veronica) Bethel of California, Tim Bethel of Coalton, Brenda (Patrick) Ayers of McArthur, and Cathy (Mark) Skidmore of Wellston. Also surviving are grandchildren, Clayton, Jared, Eddie, and Nick Bethel, John Barlow, Shirley Harris, and Dylan and Chloe Skidmore; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his good friends, Jim Sowers and Larry Holstein.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Virgil; sisters, Verden Murphy and Mary Conoway; and son, Edward Bethel.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, April 20, at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 483 Chillicothe Street, Jackson. The service, officiated by Pastor Terry Cavanaugh, will begin at 11 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Huntley & Cremeens Funeral Home of Wellston.
