Johnny W. Sharp

Johnny W. Sharp left this earth on Jan. 24, 2020, to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Eloise Aldridge Sharp who preceded him in death.  Johnny was born in Lawrence County, Ohio on Oct. 4, 1934 to the late Artie and Evelyn (Kelly) Sharp.

He is survived by one son, Rickey (Brenda) Sharp; one honorary son, Timothy (Tonja) Aldridge; and four grandchildren: Jeremy (Tammy) Sharp, Amanda Sharp, Kassandra (James) Mosher, and Shallon (Jake) Schuldt; and seven great-grandchildren: Joseph Sharp, Ethan Lawler, Lauren, Savannah, and Avery Schuldt, and Jamie and Juliana Mosher.  He is also survived by two sisters, Sandra (Steve) Sickles and Yvonne Boggs; along with many nieces and nephews, including Linda (Ron) Borden, Erica (Kent) Causey, Jason (Martha) Kerns, Chrissy (Andy) Yagel, Renee Thomas, and Regina (Brandon) Stiltner.

Along with his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by four brothers: Ray, Glenn (Evelyn), Bobby, and Billy Sharp; sister, Freida (Zeke) Barnhart; and parents-in-law, Fred and Viola (Russell) Aldridge; sisters-in-law, Rhonda Childers and Gail Johnson; and his best friend, Dick Bruce.

He retired from Waterloo Coal Company after nearly 40 years as a dozer operator. He enjoyed many hobbies when he was younger including bluegrass music, riding dirt bikes, and fine woodworking.  In more recent years he turned that attention to his family, friends, and attending Evangelical Community Church.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill.
