John V. “Jack” Lewis

John V. “Jack” Lewis, 79, of Wellston, went home with the Lord on Tuesday morning, January 19, 2016, at his home. He was born August 15, 1936, in Hamden, Ohio, to the late Virgil L. and Opal Thompson Lewis.

He was a 1954 graduate of Wellston High School. He was a lifetime member of Local #18 AFL-CIO International Union of Operating Engineers, and his job dealt with heavy equipment. In his spare time he enjoyed racing cars.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Lewis in 1970; a brother, Fred Lewis, in 2010; and a nephew, Kevin Lewis.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Diane Johnson Lewis; two sons, John W. (Amy) Lewis of Hamden, Ohio, and Joseph (Shannon Frisby) Lewis of Creola, Ohio; a daughter, Kamela (Andy) Solis, of Edinburg, Texas; a step-daughter, Kelli Lewis Sherrick of Springfield, Ohio; a sister, Helen (Carl) Jones, of Wellston; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

“Jack” requested that cremation follow his death. Arrangements are by the Jenkins Funeral Chapel of Wellston.
