John Raymond Meredith

John Raymond Meredith, age 74, of Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth following a long illness. He was born in Catlettsburg, Kentucky on Jan. 14, 1943 to the late Orville and Mildred (Stevens) Meredith. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (McKinniss) Meredith.

He is survived by his daughter, Dianna Meredith; son, John R. (Shelley) Meredith Jr.; and granddaughter, Amy Meredith, all of Jackson. Also surviving are three brothers: Billy Bob (Wanda) Meredith of Jackson, Larry (Kay) Meredith of Beaver and Marshall (Lora) Meredith of Jackson; sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Doug Risner of Fairborn; along with several nieces and nephews.

John was a retired iron worker and farmer. He was a loving husband and father. He was a member of the Bethel Ridge Baptist Church, Masonic Trowel Lodge 132, Scottish Rite and Aladdin Shriners.

Funeral services will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 28th at 11 a.m. with Rick Vance officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m.
