John F. Rafferty

John F. Rafferty, age 46, of Wellston, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 20, 2014, at his home. He was born July 30, 1967 in Oak Hill, Ohio to Dale W. Rafferty and Joan E. Perry Rafferty. John was a 1986 graduate of Jackson High School and was a former employee of Kenworth, Rafferty Logging and Animals Unlimited. He was the Wellston Golden Rockets loudest fan, as well as being an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Oakland Raiders, the Boston Celtics and the Cincinnati Reds. John also considered Jeff Gordon his buddy.

He is survived by his mother, Joan Rafferty of Wellston; wife, Kerry McDougal Rafferty of Wellston; children, Kaitlyn Rafferty, Justin Rafferty and Levi Rafferty, all of Wellston; brothers and sisters, Larry Rafferty of Jackson, Roger (Brenda) Rafferty of Wellston, Thomas Rafferty of Jackson, Karen Johnson of Elizabethtown, Ky., Naomi Davis of Wellston, Patrick Rafferty of Wellston and Imogene (Gerald) Webb of Wellston; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wayne and Lucille McDougal of North Jackson; sisters-in-law, Brenda McDougal of North Jackson, Ohio and Terri McDougal of Dunbar, W.Va.; brother-in-law, Michael (Grace) McDougal of North Jackson, Ohio; the mother of John’s children, Janis (Troy) Shaw of Wellston, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

John was preceded in death by his father, Dale Rafferty and his sister, Regina Rafferty Gilliland.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with John Pelletier, CLP officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenroy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate contributions be given to the McWilliams Funeral Home to help with expenses.
