JoAnn (Bowsher) Kelly

JoAnn (Bowsher) Kelly, age 91, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013. She was born in Jackson, Ohio but had lived in Dayton for more than 66 years. A graduate of the JHS Class of 1940, she was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Imogene Bowsher; and her husband of 66 years, Curt Kelly in 2009.

JoAnn attended Western College for Women in Oxford and was a long-time member of The Dayton Women’s Club and The Philharmonic Volunteer Association. For many years she volunteered at the Kettering Hospital gift shop and the Little Exchange. She married Curtis Kelly, a nuclear scientist at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, in 1947.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Bowsher Jones’s children, Sally Jones (Col. Roger) McNamara, Jean Jones (Lou) Jindra and Casey (Sue) Jones; great-nieces and great-nephews, Megan Leach Miller, Erin Leach Hinsch, Jenny Jones Wolford and Chris Jones; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Cade, Bodhi and Ada Wolford, Trey and Reid Miller and Lauren Hinsch; and cousins, Ruth Tootle of Circleville, OH and Judith Carmichael of Seal Beach, CA.

There will be no local services and burial will be in Jackson, OH at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, OH 45420 or to the Children’s Medical Center, One Children’s Plaza, Dayton, OH 45404.
