Joan Elizabeth Rafferty

Joan Elizabeth Rafferty, age 87, of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020, at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, Ohio.  She was born March 29, 1933 in Wellston, Ohio, daughter of the late James Perry and Katherine Dixon Keggley. 

Joan was a loving housewife, mother and grandmother who always took care of others.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, working crossword puzzles, coloring, scrapbooking and most of all, she loved being with her children and grandchildren. 

Joan is survived by her children, Larry Rafferty of Jackson, Roger Rafferty of Wellston, Thomas Rafferty of Jackson, Karen Johnson of Elizabeth, Ky., Naomi Davis of Wellston, Patrick Rafferty of Wellston and Imogene Webb of Wellston; brother, Harold Perry of Wellston; sister-in-law, Alice Bush (Phillip) of Chillicothe; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild. 

Besides her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Dale W. Rafferty in 1994; daughter, Regina Gilliland; son, John Rafferty; sister, Betty Reed and brother, Arnold Perry. 

Calling hours will be Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020, from 12 to 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 2 p.m.  Burial will be in the Glen Roy Cemetery.

Because of the COVID pandemic, those choosing to attend the services are required to wear facial coverings inside the building, along with the practice of social distancing.  For those unable to attend, Joan’s funeral service will be live-streamed on the McWilliams Funeral Home Facebook page starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-fh.com
