Jerry Wayne Smith, age 88, of Jackson, Ohio passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021 at his home. He was born Sept. 10, 1932 in Jackson, Ohio to the late Adolph and Gladys Smith.
Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Navy for four years and actively served in the Korean War. He was employed at DT&I Railroad for 30 years. He was also a member of Antioch Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Nelson) Smith; daughter, Jana Bassham; stepchildren: Randy (Stephanie) Farrar, Lori (Carter) Michael, and Sallie (Steve) Robinson; sister-in-law, Cynthia Yerian; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters and his first wife, Ann (Yerian) Smith.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Larry Boggs officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
