Jean Ruth (McCoy) Jenkins

Jean Ruth (McCoy) Jenkins, age 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020 at Holzer Assisted Living of Jackson, Ohio.

Jean was born Nov. 26, 1931 to Delbert and Ruth (Masters) McCoy at home in South Webster, Ohio. She was a graduate of Jackson High School, Class of 1949. In her early years, she was active at the Fourmile Christian Church teaching and helping with VBS and other activities.

Jean held many jobs throughout her lifetime. She worked for the Jackson County Clerk of Courts office and worked for many years for the G.G. Murphy Co. as a purchaser. Later, she and her husband, Delbert were active members at the First Baptist Church in Jackson.

Jean was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed special times with family visits on Sundays.

She is survived by her children, Debbie (Dave) Ruggles, Steve (Cindy) Jenkins, David (Cindy) Jenkins, Teresa (Jim) Burson, and Mark (Robin) Jenkins. She is also survived by five sisters, Doris Skaggs, Juanita (Danny) Lutz, Judy Leach, Linda Sollars, and Becky Griffeth. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Jenkins; her parents, Delbert and Ruth (Masters) McCoy; and one brother, Charles Wendell McCoy.

Graveside services under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020 at 2 p.m. with Brother Larry Boggs officiating with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. All CDC guidelines will be followed with facial masks and 6 feet of social distancing.
