James William (Jim) Cheatwood

James William (Jim) Cheatwood of Daytona Beach, Florida, formerly of Wellston, passed away on Dec. 24, 2020 after an extended illness. He was born on Nov. 7, 1945 at Gallipolis, Ohio, the son of the late Leo and Mary (Coyle) Cheatwood.

He graduated from Wellston High School in 1964. He was in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division, and served in Vietnam.

Jim never met a stranger. He loved to hunt and enjoyed car racing.

He retired from Chillicothe Correctional Facility.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 371 and the VFW Post 9092 of Wellston.

He is survived by his long-time companion, Deanna Evans of Daytona Beach, Florida; his dog, Bandit; brother, Ron (and Pauletta) Cheatwood; sisters, Elaine (and Melvin) Hill, Pam (and Paul) Davis, and Kathy Rainer, all of Wellston; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Clara Duffy Cheatwood.

His final resting place will be in Daytona Beach, Florida.
