James M. Downey, age 64, of Jackson, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019. He was born in Jackson on June 9, 1954 to the late Silas E. Downey and Helen Marie (Lonesky) Downey, who survives.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Christy Downey; brothers: Richard, Paul and Robert Downey; a sister, Barbara Ann (Donald) Simpson; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Buddy, and brothers, Johnny and Roger Downey.
James was a veteran of the United States Navy. He liked to hunt and fish.
Funeral services will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 1 p.m., with Bill Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Hanna Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m.
