Jack Chinn

Jack Chinn, age 84, passed away at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio on Tuesday May 23, 2017. He was born on May 8, 1933 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Charles and Lucielle Molster Chinn.

He is survived by his wife Kyoko (Alice) Chinn, sons: Edward Chinn of Jackson and James Chinn of Grove City, Pennsylvania, daughter: Nozomi (Paula Chinn) Stephenson of East Amherst, New York, daughter-in-law: Renee Chinn, son-in-law: Neil Stephenson, grandchildren: Carter Chinn, Chloe Chinn, James Stephenson and Karen Stephenson. He was born and raised in Portsmouth, Ohio and after attending the former Garfield High School, he joined the US Air force. While stationed in Japan he married Kyoko Kato (better known as Alice) on August 8, 1954. After his time in the Air Force, Jack attended the Portsmouth Interstate Business College where he received an Associates Degree in Accounting. In 1958 Jack and Alice moved to Jackson, Ohio where he began employment with the Chun King Corporation. He ended his accounting career working for Defense Financial and Accounting Services, Columbus Center.
Jack was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson. He enjoyed woodworking, mowing the lawn and working around the house.

Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8PM Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1PM Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the funeral home with burial in the Fairmount Cemetery with Military Graveside services by the Jackson County DAV Chapter 45. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Christ United Methodist Church, C/O Family Center Building Fund, 150 Portsmouth Street, Jackson, Ohio 45640.
