Henry Lee “Bud” Taylor, age 76, of McArthur, passed away peacefully, Saturday evening, July 6, 2019, at his home. He was born May 25, 1943 in Wellston, Ohio, son of the late Maurice Elliott Taylor and Mabel Keener Taylor.
Henry was a 1961 graduate of Wellston High School. He was a dedicated soldier of 22 years in the United States Army, serving in both Vietnam and Korea. While assigned to Germany, Henry met and married his wife, Veronika.
Henry loved traveling abroad and had a knack for blending in with the locals. He loved hiking in the mountains in Germany and Austria, and spent numerous visits to England. An experienced mechanic, Henry loved working on cars, and especially enjoyed watching auto racing of all sorts. He continued his service to his country for 15 more years, working as a civilian specialist in electronic and maintenance for the U.S. Army in Germany. Henry longed to come home and found further employment working for the VA Hospital in Chillicothe when he finally retired.
He is survived by his wife, Veronika Ginella Taylor; sons, Maurice “Reece” Taylor of Chico, California, Bruce Taylor (Mary) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Lee Taylor (Kelly) of Urbana; grandsons, Zachary, Robert, Alan, Steven, Matthew, Patrick and Joseph; brothers, Bruce Taylor and Frank Taylor; along with several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his sisters, Reva “Kitty”, and Lou.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service, with military honors by representatives of the United States Army, will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. In keeping with Henry’s wishes, cremation will follow the service. Burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
