Helen Elizabeth Owen, age 89, of Jackson, Ohio passed away September 18, 2012. She was born on November 14, 1922 in Flat River, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late James and Biddie Barker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Berwyn Lee Owen.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Owen of Farmington, Missouri, John (Cynthia Hawkins) Owen of Rochester, New York and Stephen (Laura) Owen of Jackson, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She graduated high School at 16 and went on to college. She did her part in the war effort by heading up a New York company involved in procurement of supplies for the military. She was an avid reader and donated time at Kinnison Grade School as a reader. She was a resident of Four Winds Nursing Home for the past year where she received outstanding and loving care.
A funeral service was conducted at the Boyer Funeral Home in Park Hills, Mo. on Saturday, September 22, 2012.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in her memory to the Faith Lutheran Church, 245 E. Huron Street, Jackson, Ohio 45640.
