Helen B. (Fisher) Rice

Helen B. (Fisher) Rice, age 90, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the Jenkins Care Center in Wellston, Ohio. She was born in Coalton, Ohio on September 11, 1923 to the late Roy and Lucy (Evans) Fisher.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, G. Wayne Rice; son, Kevin (Julia) Rice and daughter, Kathie (Sam) Stevenson. She is survived by five grandchildren, David (Pam) Stevenson, Melissa (Troy) Kingrey, Andy (Susan) Rice, Amy (Brent) Pieper, and Mark (Courtney) Rice; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, and also several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Elton Fisher, and her sisters, Margaret Maerker, Hazel Boylan, and Phyllis Hammond.

Helen was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, and a World War II Navy Veteran. She was a real estate agent, and an instructor at the Manpower Training Center. Helen also was the author of a book entitled, “Recipes for Living in Verse.”

Friends may call at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 16, from 12 to 2 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following at 2 p.m. with Pastor Charles Eagle officiating.
