Harry Richards, Jr.

Harry Richards, Jr., age 83, of Jackson, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 27, 2020, at the Holzer Medical Center ER in Jackson, Ohio.  He was born Feb. 23, 1937 in Wellston, Ohio, son of the late Harry Richards, Sr. and Freda K. Kalklosch Richards Thress. 

Harry was a Veteran of the United States Navy, and he retired in 2000 from Austin Powder, where he was employed for 30 years. Harry attended Father’s House Church, and was a member of several Masonic Lodges in the area including Orphans Friend Lodge #275 in Wilkesville, Delta Lodge #207 in McArthur and the Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Ohio. 

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Frederick Taylor Richards; sons, William “Bill” Richards (Kelly) of North Carolina and David Richards (Shawna) of Wellston; step-daughters, Freddie Scurlock of Jackson and Barbara Logan (Carl “Robbie”) of Jackson; sisters, Martha Jane Thress of Ohio, Dorothy Anderson of Okeechobee, Florida, Mary Ann Brown of Circleville, and Bertha “Toot” Penix of Marion; along with five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral service will be Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at 3 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with Pastor Rick Kincaid officiating.  Calling hours will be one hour prior to the funeral service.  Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
