Harlan Herbert “Herb” Henry

Harlan Herbert “Herb” Henry, age 78, of Wellston, passed away peacefully at his sister’s home on July 14, 2019. He was born on July 31, 1940 in Wellston, Ohio, to the late Charles Willard Henry and Florence Deal Henry.

Herb was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion and VFW in both Washington Court House and Wellston. He loved to camp and spend time with his grandchildren and his nieces and nephews. Herb enjoyed cheering on the Cincinnati Reds and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He was also a Paul Brown fan and rooted for whichever team he was coaching, whether it be the Cleveland Browns or the Cincinnati Bengals.

Herb is survived by his son, Harlan Herbert Henry, Jr.  of Wellston; daughter, Laura Barker (James) of Wellston; grandchildren, Derek A. Henry, Samantha Brown (Josh), Alyssa M. Hall (Jared Figgins) and Steven M. Henry; great-grandchildren, Riley M. Henry, Abigail Brown, Kenzie Henry and Emma Brown; brother, John L. Henry (Marsha); sister, Dorothy F. “Dottie” Hall; sisters-in-law, Jean Henry and Della Henry; along with several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Harriette R. Henry; brothers, Charles W. “Bud” Henry, Jr., Fred Henry, Richard Henry, Brice Edward “Ed” Henry and Donald F. Henry; and brother-in-law, Albert Hall.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service with military honors will be Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Mathews officiating.

In keeping with Herb’s wishes, cremation will follow the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
