Gladys Joan (White) Blackburn

Gladys Joan (White) Blackburn, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday Sept. 18, 2020 at Oakwood Community Health Center with her husband Jack at her side. Gladys was born on Dixon Run Road, Jackson, Ohio on Oct. 5, 1936 to Mayfield and Edith (Caldwell) White. She was the youngest of four children.

Gladys was united in marriage on Easter Sunday, April 10, 1955 to Jack Blackburn at the Jackson Christian Church. She lived in Jackson County her entire life, except for 25 years residence in Marion, Ohio.

Gladys never met a stranger. She enjoyed her breakfast with friends at the A&A Truck Stop and looked forward to making new friends. She was a seamstress, enjoyed knitting and working jigsaw puzzles. She was a past member of Victory Grange and was always looking forward to their annual making of apple butter at the grange and the Apple Festival.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years; nephew, Thomas (Sally) Kearns; nieces, Sally (James) Frankland and Karen Williamson Brogan; sisters-in-law, Cora Sue McKenzie and Rudy Amagliani; brothers-in-law, Terry (Elaine) Blackburn and Thomas Liverett; four nieces and nephews-in-law, Sheila Riffey, Robyn Miller, Cindy Liverett, Whitney Wassitey, Edward McKenzie, Greg Liverett and Chris and Michael Amagliani.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Grace Kearns Williamson and Margaret Detty; brother, Russell White; sister-in-law, Patti Jo Liverett; brothers-in-law, Clyde McKenzie, Gus Amagliani, William Kearns and Arnold Detty; niece, Ruth Helmic; nephew, Robert Kearns; and great-nephew, J.D. Frankland.

Gladys was thrilled to be able to enjoy holding the newest member to the family, a great-great-great-niece, Ember Joan Dickerson.
