Gladys Elizabeth “Nanny” Peoples

Gladys Elizabeth “Nanny” Peoples, age 87, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017 at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. She was born Dec. 31, 1929 in Wellston, Ohio to the late James Lowell Dickerson and Charity Alice Griffis Dickerson.

Gladys was a 1947 graduate of Wellston High School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Years ago, Gladys was an employee of the Pants Factory and she was also a former cook at several area restaurants. She was a member of the Wellston Church of the Nazarene, the Wellston Senior Citizens and the Retired Senior Citizens Volunteer Program.

Gladys is survived by her children, Herbert Wayne Peoples, Jr. (Glenna) of Wellston, Dottie Kinser of Hermitage, Tenn., Martha Corvin of Wellston, Alice Peoples of Wellston, Susan Schulze (Raymond) of Columbus and Donna Holbrook (John) of Cascade, Colorado; sisters, Lois Perkins of Wellston and Lillian Faye Geissman (Bob) of Dublin; brothers, Jimmy Lee Dickerson (Marilyn) of Lakeland, Florida, Jerl Dickerson of Hilliard and Terry Dickerson of Sugar Grove; as well as 19 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Wayne Peoples, Sr. in 1982.

Calling hours will be on Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Ridgewood Cemetery. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com
