George Michael Buckley

George Michael Buckley, age 67, of Hamden, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio.  He was born May 18, 1953 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late William I. Buckley and Betty L. Cartwright Buckley Canter. 

George, better known as Mike or Bear by his family and friends, was a 1972 graduate of Wellston High School and a mechanic by trade his whole life.  He had a passion for restoring classic cars and showing them at local car shows. 

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Betty R. Jenkins Buckley; son, Brian Michael Buckley of Radcliff; sisters, Martha Tilley (Gary) and Susan Covin, all of Jackson; along with several nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, John Canter and James “Jay” Canter; and his beloved grandmother, Freda Jeffrey. 

In keeping with Mike’s wishes, his body was cremated.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Salem Cemetery in Wellston.
