Gary Woodruff

Gary Lee Woodruff, 75, of Jackson, passed away February 28, 2020. Gary was born March 12, 1944 in Radcliff, Ohio, to the late Claude and Flora (Lowe) Woodruff.

He was a proud member of the United Mine Workers Association and worked at Meigs #2 mine for over 30 years before retiring. Gary was a proud member of the graduating Class of 1962 from Hamden High School. He was an aircraft mechanic in the United States Air Force until 1966. He celebrated nearly 41 years of marriage to his best friend, & favorite golf partner, Mary (Wiles) Woodruff, of Jackson who survives. 

Gary will be deeply missed by his children, Kimberly (David) Woodruff, Stephanie (Jay) Slagle, Susan (Sam) Brackman; sister, Freda Woodruff; grandchildren, Kayla Brackman, Madison Spohn, Emma Brackman, Carson Spohn and Jonathan Woodruff. Gary was so proud to be the biggest fan in the cheering section of his grandchildren’s sporting events.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Amos Lowe and Marion “Fats” Woodruff; sisters, Magnolia Eberts and Geraldine Hagan; and son, Mark Spohn.

Friends may call Monday, March 2, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson.  Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Janie Karl officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
