Gary Sowers

Gary Dale Sowers, age 67, of Wellston, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio.  He was born April 22, 1954 in Wellston, Ohio, son of the late Ralph M. Fain and Pauline Knox Fain.  Gary was a carpenter by trade, and a former employee of Cleveland Construction.  Gary always loved riding his Harley, going fishing, and picking on his older sister, family, and friends. 

He is survived by sons: Timothy Sowers of McArthur, and Heath Sowers of Tennessee; daughter, Billie Carter of Florida; lifelong companion of 40 years, Nancy Buel of Wellston; grandchildren, Kasi Sowers (Jimmy), Katrina Mercer (Trent), Bentley Sowers, Presley Sowers, Jaden Smith, Josiah Smith, Ethan Winsborough, and Isaiah Winsborough; great-grandchildren, Adelynn Rose McCormick and Maycee Rae McCormick; sister, Jean “Sis” Sandlin (Robert) of Rodney; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.  Besides his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brothers, Jr. Sowers, William “Bill” Sowers, Dwaine Fain, and Milan Fain. 

Calling hours will be Thursday, May 13, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 2 p.m. with Pastor Randy Patterson officiating.  In keeping with Gary’s wishes, cremation will follow the service and burial will be at the convenience of the family in Hamden Cemetery.  For those choosing to attend the services, facial coverings are required inside the building along with the practice of social distancing.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com
