Gary Dwight Bragg, age 63, of Delaware, OH, formerly of Jackson, OH passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Jackson, OH on August 28, 1949 to the late Robert Franklin and Reba Ruth (Gilliland) Bragg.
Gary was employed at Goodyear, Cambridge and Meridian for 38 years. He served in the United States Army in the Viet Nam War from 1969 to 1971 as a low level scout and helicopter mechanic. He was a member of the American Motorcycle Association and of the V.F.W. Post 8402 of Jackson as well as a keeper of the U.S. Lighthouse Society. Gary was a member of the Appalachian Dirt Riders for 25 years as well as a crew member of Brian Daniel’s racing. He enjoyed woodworking, golf, NASCAR and drag racing. Gary was chosen for the Honor Flight to Washington D.C., accompanied by Lindsay Roberts, Honor Flight guardian angel, United States Army Afghanistan Veteran. Gary didn’t know a stranger.
Gary is survived by his wife, Mary Gulas Bragg; brothers, Thomas (Kathy) Bragg of Jackson, Robert (Yoshi) Bragg II of Jackson, Steve (Diane) Bragg of Minnesota; adopted children, Angela (Mark) Hixon and John (Denver) Bradford; stepchildren, Donna (Ryan Dobbins) Parker and Suzanne Blevins; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his nephew, David Arvin Bragg.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 14 at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson, OH with Carla S. Cherry, LCDR, CHC, USN, “Ret.” officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12 at Snyder-Rodman Funeral Home in Delaware, OH. Also, friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson, OH.
