Garry Rose

Garry Dean “Jake” Rose, age 73, of Ray, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born the baby of the family on October 21, 1948, in McArthur, Ohio, the eighth child and sixth son of  the late John and Mabel (Reed) Rose. Garry proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam. When he returned home from Vietnam, Garry worked several occupations, including Consolidated Freight, several sawmills, Austin Powder, Midwest Electric and B&D Ready Mix, where he was employed for 17 years. Garry was a very kind and helpful person who was always willing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed hunting, cheering for the Green Bay Packers and spending time with his family and friends. Garry was a faithful member of the Wellston Church of God and considered the church family his family.

He is survived by daughters: Jerry Foster and Joey Peoples; grandchildren: Amanda Moone and Lacy Grant; great-grandchildren: Lexie, Rylan, Sadie, Wade and Natalie; sisters: Darlene Strong and Naomi Coleman; along with several nieces and nephews, and his loving church family, including Barry, Karen and Josh Benson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 36 wonderful years, Mildred Cleavenger Rose, in 2009; brothers: Carl, Charles, Jerry, Larry and Roger Rose; and sisters, Deloris DePue and Shirley Kibby.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 8, at 12 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with Pastor Barry Benson officiating. In keeping with Garry’s request, cremation will follow the service. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the funeral service.
