Evelyn York, age 93, of Oak Hill, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Heartland of Jackson. She was born October 1, 1922 in Martin, Kentucky to the late Kelly B. and Hattie (Crisp) Conley.

Evelyn was a cook at the old Highway Restaurant and the Davis Home before becoming an administrator at the Davis Home. She loved flowers, crossword puzzles, reading her Bible, watching the news (especially CNN) and mowing the grass when she was able. She will be dearly missed by all of her children and grandchildren.

Evelyn is survived by her three daughters, Lois (Larry) Dunn, Joyce York McClurg and Margaret Cornwell; grandchildren, Steven Mark (Kelly) Dunn, Christa Joy Jayjohn, Jared Alan (Amanda) Dunn, Terry McClurg, Sue McClurg Danby, Marlana McDaniel Strom, Brett Jason McDaniel, Katie (Jay) Godeaux, Timothy York, Lisa York, Cheryl Clarkson, Angela Bowman and Janetta Ewing; also surviving are 23 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and relatives.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William York; son, Edgar K. York; grandsons, Jeffrey David Dunn and James McClurg; great grandson, Jason Dunn; and siblings, Marvin C. Conley, Grover B. Conley, Kelly L. Conley, Mabel Lena Conley, Wilma Conley Lafferty and Janice Conley Landrum. She is also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ernie Cornwell.

A public graveside service will be held 1:00 Monday, May 16, 2016 at the C.M. Cemetery in Oak Hill with Rev. Herman Stewart officiating. No calling hours will be observed.
