Ernie Bowling Sr.

Ernie Bowling Sr., age 81 of Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019 at Holzer of Jackson. He was born Nov. 4, 1938 in Hillsboro, Ohio. He was the son of the late Ernest and Mary Bowling.

Ernie worked mainly in logging and timber, and was a diesel mechanic for many years for Montgomery Trucking in Wellston and Osborne Equipment in Jackson.

Ernie is survived by his children, Mary (Don) Bush of Racine, Ernie “Lee” Bowling, Vincent Bowling, Anthony (Rhonda) Bowling – all of Jackson, and Tina Brandeberry of Rio Grande; grandchildren, Donald Bush, Mary Beth (Brad) Morrison, Kim (Joe) Dawson, Kyle (Leigh) Bowling, Jason Bowling (Sarah Worby), April (Tyler) Porter, Kaylee (Phillip) Dunnavant, and Emily Sanders (Seth Colmer); and great-grandchildren, Isabella and Cheyenne Morrison, Nathaniel, Brayden, Brynleigh, Axton and Alezander Porter, Les Colmer and Olivia Dunnavant, along with his little pets: “Izzy”, “Gizmo” and “Dexter”.

Also surviving are a brother, Roger (Carol) Bowling; sisters, Alice (Keith) Newson and Dolly Justice, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Bowling; two daughters, Libby Bowling and Debra Bowling-Sanders; son-in-law, David Brandeberry; and brothers: Roy, Edward and Ernest Bowling.

Funeral services will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 9 at noon with Pastor Don Bush officiating. Burial will follow at Bailey Chapel Cemetery in Pike County. The family will receive friends at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 8 from 5 p.m. to 8.
