Elizabeth “Betty” Emmert

Elizabeth “Betty” Emmert, age 89, of Hamden, passed away Monday, April 4, 2022, at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, Ohio. She was born April 1, 1933, in Harlan County, Kentucky, daughter of the late James and Lakie (Sykes) Leitch. Betty retired from the Pants Factory in Wellston, where she was a seamstress for 19 years. Following her retirement, Betty worked alongside her husband at Art Emmert Insurance in Wellston. She enjoyed working outside in her yard and garden and traveling to Florida with Artie in their motor home. Most of all, Betty loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a former member of the Chase Chapter #162 Order of the Eastern Star in Wellston.

Betty is survived by her children: James P. Emmert of Hamden, Porter Emmert (Lynn) of Hamden, Eric Emmert (Teresa) of Lancaster and Cathy McManaway (Rick) of Wellston; grandchildren: Angie Caudill (Jason), Heidi McIntire (Mike), Niki Phillips, Nathan Emmert, Aaron Emmert (Kristin), Rachel Burns (Joel) and Erica McManaway; great-grandchildren: Lakin and Sean Caudill, Kourtney and Kamryn Emmert, Bomichael, Gretchen and Zayda McIntire, Macie, Jacob and Kinly Phillips, Maelyn and Alayna Emmert, and Eric, Silas and Juniper Burns; great-great grandson, Barrett Lewis; niece, Susie Emmert; and nephews: Scott Middleton and Clark Middleton. Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. “Art” Emmert in 2012; grandson, Jimmy Emmert; and sisters: Agnes Emmert and Stella Middleton.

Calling hours will be Thursday, April 7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Friday, April 8, at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Don Fairchild officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
