Eleanor L. Jolly

Eleanor L. Jolly, age 90, of Wellston, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017 at her home. She was born Sept. 1, 1926 in Wellston to the late Homer E. Jones and Edith M. Camink Jones.

Eleanor was a 1944 graduate of Wellston High School and also a graduate of Springfield Business College. She was a secretary at the former McNally Pittsburg Manufacturing in Wellston, but most of all, throughout her life she was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. Eleanor attended the Hamden United Methodist Church and was a member of the Wellston Chase Chapter #162 Order of the Eastern Star and the Washington Township Grange. She always enjoyed cooking for her family and those who worked on the family farm.

Eleanor is survived by her children, Gerald Rex “Gary” Jolly (Diane) of Wellston, Thomas Kent Jolly (Nancy) of Wellston, Kelvin Lee Jolly (Tami) of Moundsville, West Virginia, Jennifer June Priest (Howie) of Columbus and Beth Ann Baker (Tom) of Delaplane Virginia; siblings, Herb Jones of Plain City, Marilyn Taylor of Wellston, Florace Morrow of Columbus, Marcy Newvahner of Jackson and Richard Jones of Ashville; sister-in-law, Ruth Jolly of Wheelersburg; along with 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, George Rex Jolly in 2008; grandson, Scott Howard Priest; brother, Robert E. Jones; and sisters, Phyllis Miller and Geraldine “Gerry” Ponn.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Smith and Rex Holzapfel officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions in Eleanor’s name be given to the Jackson County Fair Board, P.O. Box 382, Wellston, Ohio 45692.
