By | August 17, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Effie Louise (Hall) Gray-Mahle-Williams, announces her passing on August 17, 2018, at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. Effie, age 93, was born on May 16, 1925, in Wellston, Ohio, daughter of the late Albert and Carrie (Spires) Hall. Effie was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Wellston. She enjoyed reading her Bible, cooking, gardening, canning, watching Soap Operas and spending time with her family. Effie was the quintessential homemaker of the twentieth century. She worked hard caring for her home and rearing her children. She also, however, worked outside the home at Wellston’s own Giovanni’s Pizza for 20 years. A very friendly, fun-loving person she will greatly missed by many.

Effie will be lovingly remembered by her children: Sharon McCord (Bruce), Roger Gray (Cheryl), Bill Mahle Jr., (Regina), Barbara Henry (Robert), and Beverly Arms (Darren); as well as 19 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Gary Gray; two grandsons, Allen Gray and David Gray; one great-grandson, Allen Gray Jr.; seven sisters, five brothers, and spouses, Tom Gray, William Mahle, Sr., and Joseph Williams.

A funeral service celebrating Effie’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway St., with Bishop Barry Benson officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery, Wellston.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home also on Tuesday, one hour prior to services from 1 to 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Effie’s name be given to the Jenkins Care Community, Garden Unit Activity Fund.
