Edith M. Rupert

Edith M. Rupert, age 92, of Wellston, passed away Friday morning, November 20, 2015 at the Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio. She was born September 23, 1923 in Pettorano Sul Gizio, Italy to the late Ralph DeVictor and Assunta Lancia DeVictor.

Edith graduated from Ohio University, with a degree in education and majoring in art. She was a former teacher for the Wellston City Schools for 25 years, where she taught art. Edith was an active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wellston and the Jackson County Retired Teachers Association. She loved art and appreciated the beauty of nature, along with enjoying walking, exercising and keeping healthy.

Edith is survived by her children, Nicholas Rupert (Dinah) of New Plymouth, Oh., James Rupert (Eileen) of Wellston, Peter Rupert (Vicki) of Douglas, Wyoming and Maria Rupert (Mike Foster) of Huron, Oh.; daughter-in-law, Carol Rupert of Wellston; sisters, Lucia Garth of Texas and Sylvia Dupre of Tennessee, as well as eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Rupert in 1990; daughter, Kathleen Rupert; son, Paul John Rupert; grandson, Paul Glen Rupert; sister, Mary Monaco, and brother, Nicholas DeVictor.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston, where rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Donald Maroon officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
