Dorothy Thacker Barnett

Dorothy Thacker Barnett, 95, of Wellston, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family at her side, went home with her Lord on Monday morning, November 14, 2016, at her daughter’s home in New Plymouth, Ohio. She was born February 16, 1921, in Minerton, Ohio, to the late John Thacker and Hazel McKinnis Thacker.

She was employed by the Kuppenheimer factory in Wellston as a seamstress. She attended Hamden Nazarene Church and later attended Freedom Chapel. She enjoyed working outside but especially loved being with her family. She was beloved both as a mother and grandmother.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jean Haynes in 2009; a son-in-law, Robert E. Haynes in 2007; four brothers, Howard, Harold, Harry, and Homer Thacker, and two sisters, Avonelle Thacker and Doris Thacker Mather.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane Carpenter of Wellston and June (Leroy) Parkison of New Plymouth with whom she made her home; a son, Clyde Barnett Jr. of Hamden; eight grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Johnny (Shelby) Thacker of Hamden; two sisters, Jeanette (Rick) McWhorter of Hamden and Lenora Wilcox of Chillicothe; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy will be greatly missed, but for those who are serving God, someday it will be a glad reunion day when we all meet again on Heaven’s shore.

The family will receive friends at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel with Rev. Perry Brafford officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamden Cemetery.
